Burial – Street Halo EP

South London based dubstep/2-step producer Burial has been long overdue for a record since his critically acclaimed LP, “Untrue” in 2007. However, Burial is perhaps in somewhat of a troublesome situation since the extraordinary success and influence of “Untrue”, being under a huge amount of pressure to match the quality and greatness of his prior release. Yet somehow, Burial has kept his fans satisfied by releasing a number of remixes and collaborations in the meantime. Even earlier this year we heard his outstanding 12” collaboration with Four Tet and Thom Yorke. Although his fans anxiously anticipate the next LP, it is safe to say Burial is back with his signature spine chilling vocal cuts and whirling samples in the Street Halo EP. Also, Burial has managed to make a slight shift in his sound, this time straying a bit away from his trademarked 2-step beats and into a more straight forward movement, all while staying true to his haunting and mesmerizing downtempo sound.
