‘Mad men’ is the latest track from rap/acoustic group ‘Kings of the city’ and marks the one year anniversary of the London riots. Here, through social commentary, a fairly poignant look is given; which tells both tales of the story. In short, that the original riots were somewhat justified – but looting was perhaps a step too far.

As ever with Kings of the city, it’s a mixture of rapping and acoustic singing which creates the hook – and not only is it a fairly unique combination, but it’s also pretty effective. One final note, UK ‘backpack’ rap was meant to have died out many years ago – so Kings of the city mark a certain revival to the sub-genre.
