In 2002 the Taskforce duo of Farma G and Chester P dropped the song ‘The junkyard’ from the album ‘Countryman’. At nearly ten years old, it has to be one of UK hip hop’s first socially conscious tracks around, based on deprivation, poverty and desperation on a run-down council estate.

Of course, these days this kind of content is quite common, such as the grime MC Devlin who often touches on his environment. However, before all this was The junkyard, which was possibly one of the first of its kind. As usual, Taskforce also delivered on the lyrical side of things and the flow used is second to none. With this in mind it’s a true UK classic!
