Chipmunk and Wretch 32 – Otis

‘Otis’ is one of the better songs on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s ‘Watch the throne’ release and has since been covered by Chipmunk and Wretch 32.
As usual Chipmunk can’t help but brag about his wealth and success, and whilst it is a bit vain, he still comes across well on these kind of songs and is comfortable on rap. Elsewhere, Wretch 32 does his usual stuff also, with layers of word-play and hidden metaphors, an example being “I let them bitch, they ain’t my pedigree”.

Whilst it doesn’t contain the same magic as the original, it’s still very well done, and after a listen, we can’t help but gear up for Wretch 32′s ‘Black and white’ album. If he stays similar to Otis then it will be a very good release.
