The Streets – Blinded by the lights
Going back to 2004, we re-visit ‘The Streets’ classic anthem of ‘Blinded by the lights’ which was the peak of Mike Skinner’s second album, ‘A grand don’t come for free’ which received amazing reviews and support.
Anyway, this song not only succeeded commercially, but it was also can be seen as a textbook example of Mike Skinner’s ability of story-telling. The entire album was a concept, and here Mike tells us of a dodgy pill at a family wedding. As good as it is lyrically, it is also the great beat produced by Skinner too, which holds up the song.
Since then, it has featured in a touching scene in the film Kidulthood and has been remixed by Dubstep guru’s Nero. However, upon review this song will be remembered for its imagery and connection to A grand don’t come for free, which is a timeless piece of UK music.
