The Streets – Blinded by the lights

Going back to 2004, we re-visit ‘The Streets’ classic anthem of ‘Blinded by the lights’ which was the peak of Mike Skinner’s second album, ‘A grand don’t come for free’ which¬†received¬†amazing reviews and support.

Anyway, this song not only succeeded commercially, but it was also can be seen as a textbook example of Mike Skinner’s ability of story-telling. The entire album was a concept, and here Mike tells us of a dodgy pill at a family wedding. As good as it is lyrically, it is also the great beat produced by Skinner too, which holds up the song.
Since then, it has featured in a touching scene in the film Kidulthood and has been remixed by Dubstep guru’s Nero. However, upon review this song will be remembered for its imagery and connection to A grand don’t come for free, which is a timeless piece of UK music.
