Jay Z – 99 Problems

’99 problems’ is probably Jay-Z’s biggest song to date, which says an awful lot when you consider his discography. Taken from his classic ‘Black album’, the song was based around an altercation with a racist police officer, who wanted to search Jay-Z’s car for no reason. It’s this story-telling ability, combined with Rick Rubin’s first production in years which made the song so special.

And of course, one of the most catchy hooks in recent times…”I’ve got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one”. It feels odd that this was released in 2004, nearly ten years ago now. Where has the time gone?!
